Central Chilcotin Rehabilitation Ltd. (CCR) is proud to share that its CEO, Percy Guichon, also an elected councilor of Tŝideldel First Nation, will be joining the panel at the Indigenous Forestry Conference 2025, taking place September 15–16, 2025, in Nanaimo, B.C., on Snuneymuxw Territory.
With the theme “Stewarding Territory. Advancing Opportunity,” the conference will bring together leaders, knowledge keepers, and industry experts to shape the future of Indigenous-led forest stewardship.
A significant highlight of this year’s agenda will be the discussion of Indigenous-led conservation initiatives, which demonstrate how communities are successfully balancing ecological preservation with economic development. The Indigenous Forestry Conference serves as a vital forum for sharing both successes and challenges encountered by Indigenous communities in managing ancestral lands, while exploring opportunities to expand economic engagement and entrepreneurship in the forestry sector.
Guichon will join the Forest Rehabilitation & Fibre Optimization: Creating Indigenous-Led Economic Opportunities panel, on September 15. The session will focus on wildfire rehabilitation projects, lower-value wood fibre recovery, and models for Indigenous-led forestry innovation. Moderated by leading forestry experts, the discussion will explore how Indigenous communities are creating solutions that balance ecological stewardship with economic opportunity.
“I am honoured to join this important dialogue at the Indigenous Forestry Conference," said Guichon. "Our work at CCR is focused on rehabilitating forests and optimizing the use of wood fibre to ensure we can create economic opportunities that strengthen our communities and be thinking about how we can do this work with future generations in mind.”
Through innovative work at project sites such as Pressy Lake and Palmer Lake in the Cariboo Chilcotin, CCR has been at the forefront of Indigenous-led wildfire rehabilitation and fibre recovery, which Guichon will talk about.
