Central Chilcotin Rehabilitation Ltd. (CCR) was proud to participate in the Indigenous Forestry Conference (IFC) 2025, held September 15–16 in Nanaimo, B.C., on Snuneymuxw Territory. The conference brought together leaders, knowledge keepers, and industry experts to shape the future of Indigenous-led forest stewardship under the theme “Stewarding Territory. Advancing Opportunity.”

Percy Guichon, CCR CEO and elected councilor of Tŝideldel First Nation, led a panel discussion, Forest Rehabilitation & Fibre Optimization: Creating Indigenous-Led Economic Opportunities. The session explored innovative wildfire rehabilitation projects, fibre recovery strategies, and models for advancing Indigenous-led forestry innovation.

“It was an honour to join this important dialogue at the Indigenous Forestry Conference,” shared Guichon. “I want to thank the organizers and attendees for the meaningful conversations.  At CCR, our work goes beyond recovering forests after wildfire; it’s about optimizing fibre use, creating opportunities that strengthen our communities, and ensuring the land can sustain future generations.”

The Indigenous Forestry Conference provided a vital forum for Indigenous communities to share both successes and challenges in managing their territories, while highlighting the opportunities to expand economic engagement and entrepreneurship within forestry.

CCR looks forward to continuing these conversations, building new connections, and working alongside communities, governments, and industry to advance Indigenous-led solutions that protect the land, support local economies, and prepare future generations for success.
