Williams Lake, B.C.: Central Chilcotin Rehabilitation Ltd. (CCR) has released its Spring 2026 newsletter, highlighting forest rehabilitation work across the Cariboo Chilcotin, collaboration with partners, and recognition of Indigenous-led forestry initiatives.

“Our work continues to be guided by what we see on the land and the needs of our communities,” said Percy Guichon, CEO of CCR and Elected Councillor of Tŝideldel First Nation. “Through collaboration and shared learning, we are finding better ways to improve forest conditions, reduce wildfire risk, and create opportunities for our people and our communities.”

Forest Professionals British Columbia featured a collaboration between CCR and the Osoyoos Indian band in their latest Spring 2026 edition of its magazine. Both teams hosted field tours in their respective territories, creating space to share knowledge, build relationships, and learn from each other’s approaches to wildfire recovery, forest rehabilitation, and long-term stewardship. The exchange reflects a growing emphasis on Indigenous-led approaches and the importance of working together on the land.

The latest newsletter also highlights CCR’s participation in the Council of Forest Industries (COFI) 2026 Convention, where Guichon contributed to a panel discussion on fibre access. Learning from CCR’s experience in fire-affected areas, the discussion focused on practical approaches to improving wood fibre use and better supporting long-term forest conditions across British Columbia.

CCR was also recognized as a Canadian Biomass Award 2026 winner under the category of Community Project of the Year for its Palmer Project. This large-scale rehabilitation initiative continues to demonstrate how fibre recovery, wildfire risk reduction, and Indigenous land stewardship can work together to improve forest conditions while supporting local economies.

“Our work is about more than operations,” shared Guichon. “It’s about creating opportunities for our communities, strengthening relationships, and making sure the land continues to support future generations.”

About Central Chilcotin Rehabilitation Ltd.

Central Chilcotin Rehabilitation is a joint venture of Tŝideldel First Nation, Tl’etinqox Government, and Yunesit’in Government. The joint venture was originally formed to address the 100,000 hectares of dead pine left in the Chilcotin region and to rehabilitate those stands into productive forests. The fires in the summer of 2017 amplified the need to address heavily burned forest stands with minimal economic value. CCR’s mission is to coordinate and implement large-scale forestry programs and initiatives within the traditional territories of the Tŝideldel First Nation, Tl’etinqox Government, and Yunesit’in Government, generating economic, social, and environmental benefits.
