Williams Lake, B.C.: Central Chilcotin Rehabilitation Ltd. (CCR) is honoured to be featured in ‘B.C. is Burning’, a new documentary that explores the intensifying wildfire crisis across British Columbia. The film brings national attention to the urgent environmental, social, and economic risks posed by wildfires, while also highlighting the on-the-ground solutions being led by Indigenous partnerships and forestry professionals.

The trailer for B.C. is Burning includes impactful ground and aerial footage of CCR’s reforestation work, fuel mitigation, and forest rehabilitation in wildfire-affected areas. The documentary captures CCR’s commitment to proactive wildfire risk reduction, showcasing active rehabilitation operations, the recovery and transportation of residual fibre, and forest restoration efforts across the Chilcotin region.

“This is an emergency, but also an opportunity to lead with Indigenous values and proven forestry practices,” said Percy Guichon, CEO of CCR and Elected Councillor of the Tŝi del del First Nations. “We’re not just planting trees, we’re healing forests, protecting communities, and building a future our children can depend on.”

The documentary outlines the complex and growing challenges of wildfire in British Columbia, including:

· The increasing frequency and severity of wildfires across the province

· The impacts on rural and Indigenous communities, including evacuations and infrastructure loss

· The strain on firefighting resources under intensifying climate conditions

· Challenges related to water access and emergency response coordination

· The broader national and global significance of B.C.'s wildfire landscape

CCR’s approach, rooted in Indigenous leadership, local knowledge, and sustainable forest management, is highlighted as a model for forest recovery and long-term climate resilience. The work demonstrated in the film represents a proactive, scalable response to wildfire risk and forest rehabilitation that balances ecological restoration with economic opportunity.

“We are grateful to Central Chilcotin Rehabilitation for their support and for providing powerful on-the-ground footage for B.C. is Burning,” said Murray Wilson, retired forester and producer of the film. “Their work showcases real solutions in action, efforts that not only reduce wildfire risk but strengthen the long-term resilience of our forests and communities.”

About CCR

Central Chilcotin Rehabilitation is a joint venture of Tŝideldel First Nation, Tl’etinqox Government, and Yunesit’in Government. The joint venture was originally formed to address the 100,000 hectares of dead pine left in the Chilcotin region and to rehabilitate those stands into productive forests. The fires in the summer of 2017 amplified the need to address heavily burned forest stands with minimal economic value. CCR’s mission is to coordinate and implement large-scale forestry programs and initiatives within the traditional territories of the Tŝideldel First Nation, Tl’etinqox Government and Yunesit’in Government, generating economic, social, and environmental benefits.
