Central Chilcotin Rehabilitation (CCR) Earns National Recognition in Canada's Greener Future Initiative

Central Chilcotin Rehabilitation Ltd. (CCR), a collaborative effort between the Tŝideldel First Nation and the Tl'etinqox Government, is proudly recognized as part of Canada's commitment to environmental restoration through the 2 Billion Trees Program. Among more than 30 projects announced, CCR’s Caribou Habitat Restoration initiative stands out, aiming to restore forested caribou habitats in the Chilcotin district by planting over 400,000 trees.

The 2 Billion Trees initiative by Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) acknowledges projects making a tangible environmental impact, and CCR’s inclusion underscores the organization’s dedication to ecological restoration on a national stage. By partnering with NRCan, CCR benefits from resources that will enhance its outreach and expand its footprint in habitat conservation.

The NRCan communications team plans to feature CCR’s project on the 2 Billion Trees website, helping spread awareness about CCR’s work in reforestation and ecosystem preservation. Such national-level visibility upholds CCR's reputation and affirms the significance of Indigenous-led efforts in achieving Canada’s climate and environmental goals.

As CCR receives this recognition, it is set to further engage with communities and showcase sustainable practices that balance traditional knowledge with ecological restoration. This project not only plants trees but reaffirms CCR's vision of a greener future through good forest management.
